    Default Time To Upgrade???

ok so i received my 8800gts 640 replacement today and installed it and SLI with my other 8800gts 640, i ran the game and cranked up the settings to the max at a res of 1920x1200 and the game runs smooth at times but whenever there is a lot of activity on the screen at once it gets reaaally choppy and laggy, so clearly my cards are not cutting it, you all know that if it does not run on the highest settings at least at 60+ FPS its unplayable for me, so i thinks its time for an upgrade, my system is 2 and half years old after all.

problem is that PC gaming its almost dead, so there is no much gaming besides MW2 that i will be doing so im not thinking on spending to much money on the upgrade, so i was thinking on just replacing my 2 cards for 2 9800gtx and run them on SLI, or replace my MB for one that its PCIex 2.0 ready and get a GTX 275.

i really dont want to go for option number 2 as just getting the 2 9800gtx would be a lot cheaper so thats where u guys come in, do you guys think that 2 9800gtx, 2 gigs of ram, an Intel Qx 6800 running on an Asus P5n32 would run the game at the highest settings at a res of 1920x1200??????

i would personally wait a few months and get a icore 7 + the new ATi's, it's gonna be a lot cheaper and much better than you could possibly imagine.

although your option 1 should theoretically run the game flawlessly. and i assume the 2 gb ram u meant 2gb of vram, right?

btw, have you got vertical sync on? that could really cut the lag by a massive margin.

I think the game is optimized for the 9 series cards so if you get those then it should be enough to run it at 60+ all the time...

if you are thinking of upgrading, have look at this, the ATi's HD 5970 is the world's most powerful graphics card, and since it's got two gpu's rather than one, you wont need to buy two! this baby can run at 7680x1600 res with no problems!!!! that's bloody huge!

lol same for me, but mainly because money is an issue lol i spend a lot of time on my pc, and would rather use a fast pc, but i dont have money to spend, so...

but for you, 1X 9800GTX with high spec should do the trick, you wont need 2.

ummm i dont think one will do it,i think it might let me run the game with full specs at 1920x1200 but the FPS will be around 35 to 40 so i will need the second card to bring those FPS to 90+ wich is what i am accostumed to play at.

i have heard that the GTX 260 is pretty much a 9800gtx on a different casing and besides the GTX 260 is a PCIe 2.0 card and my MB only supports 1.0 i know i can still use it but there will be a performance compromise so i would be better off with the 9800gtx since is cheaper.
