US megachain Gamestop have never had much of a foothold here in the UK - they have a couple of shops but are tiddlers compared to big fish GAME. This may change.

Former high street kings Woolworths (no longer connected to the American company F.W. Woolworth) have fallen on hard times and gone into adminstration - Gamestop have spotted an opportunity and are reportedly set to bid for half of Woolworths' 815 UK outlets. This will instantly make them the UK's biggest games retailer,

A source told MCV, "GAME frustrated GameStop when it bought GameStation. Bosses at GameStop had pretty much given up on launching a UK assault – but now, thanks to Woolies, that door is open again."

I know they have a good hold here in florida i drive all over florida every day and i can find one with 10 to 15 miles of each other. I live in a small county and we have 2 here. Shit now that i think about it i have about 5 with 20 minutes of my house.

well gamestation was killing GAME so they had to buy em out. but buying 400 stores at once sounds like a big risk to me, because what if they dont pull it off? it has happened with a lot of new companies before. i hope Costco open more stores here http://www.flyingright.net/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif they are quite good, only in the food department though! anyway, back to gamestop, i think if they bring in something new to offer, they might after all take control of the uk's gaming market.
