Call Of Duty World At War - First Impresions

ok, so i tried the Beta and i got to say, the game is good, is like a mix of Call Of Duty 2 with Call Of Duty 4, the graphics of the game are sub par with those of Cod 4, i very detailed and vivid, one thing to note is that this cod tittle is by far the goriest of all, the level of gore is high compare to other cod titles which is a good thing in my opinion.
as all may or may not know, the perks and leveling system is back, this time thou is a little more difficult to move up in levels and the max level cap is 65,also u get a 4th perk which affects vehicles that u may use, u still have to use one specific weapon to unlock attachments for it, the challenges are also back and this time around Prestige mode has been included in the PC version of the game.

now for the bad, the movement feels somewhat heavy, it lacks the smoothness of previous Cod tittles, even when running it feels somewhat off, the hit box is a little off to, i don't know if is a ping issue or what but sometimes the guy is right in from of me and i have my crosshairs on him and i shoot and shoot and my bullets seem to just misss the target, some animations are just plain out wack, like the killcam footage when u get killed by a dog, it looks just wack in my opinion.

overall, the game is shaping to be good, but i don't think it will make me drop Cod 4 to play this one, u can definitely tell this game lacks the Polish and quality of a game develop by Infinity Ward but is good none the less, it looks like it will be fun to play it and im sure once everything said and done most of us are gonna be alternating between the two.

Dude, the game comes out in less than 2 weeks, i doubt very much that they will do any changes at all to the game at this point, the game is most likely being packed and shipped to retailers all over the globe as we speak so it can make its release date.

yep, man i played Cod WW for nearly an hour and afterward played Cod 4 and immediately i noticed how much smoother the movements is on Cod 4, for some reason in Cod WW it just feels as if the character has a Bazooka up his ass while moving, its heavy and kinda awkward, i don&#39;t know if this was made on purpose but is just weird.
also as Tali pointed out, the sound quality is horrible the guns lack that distinctive sound that makes then unique. whats weird is that when u hear your teammates and enemies fire their gun it sounds cool, those sound really really close to the real thing but if you watch the kill cam, when you see it from the first person perspective it sounds horrible

hey guys, haven&#39;t posted for a bit. well my first impressions for the game (just played it now) is that it needs major packs if it&#39;s going to release. bad sound (tali) which should put to shame by my 5.1, bad guns and gameplay, and after 20 minutes of playing, my eyes were straining from the bad shading and choppy details. Or that my card ain&#39;t fast enough (don&#39;t start flaming on me). So I say that the game reps a good mod for cod4. And is it just me or is it that the guns run out of ammo faster or was it that i played normal instead of hc? The voice acting at the beginning of each match sounded retarted too. Marines: we have to be strong or i ll rape your mom if you dont? All in all, horrible as a game, good if it was a mod.

thats cause you&#39;ve just started playing it. At the beginning of cod4 i also was using marty, last stand,... now i hate it. When you start a new (good) game "nothing" can piss you off till you get used to it.

Lets all remember this is a beta and not the final release. But...

Things I Hate About "COD 5" beta: As for the beta....it sucks. The movments are weird, the spawns are still fucked up like in cod4, the graphics are terrible and the tanks are overpowered. As pino said the sniper has an weird breath pattern (almost as if u were a robot and u could take only a breath a shot). Worst thing iv seen so far is the fact that the bolt-action weapons will not kill with one shot. Even in a hardcore server. The melee was stolen from cod4 and made worse (wtf ever happened 2 bash...that was fun). The mp44 has close to no recoil which is really weird since all of the cods, the mp44 had the most recoil.

Things I like: The blowing up of body parts. The Dogs instead of helicopters. And....ummm......uuuuuuuhhhhhh

OK, I played it for the first time today. First 20 minutes were kind of fun but it was just cause it was new...the more you play the worse it gets. The bolt actions piss me off..no fun at all to use.

Well I paid for it so I guess I better learn to like it or admit defeat. At least there is CTF.

Well so far i can say i like the going back to WW2 but the over all game play is to cartoonie for me, I mean it is not the same the graphics are not as good as cod2 or cod4. I like the battle chatter in the game a bit more then cod4 but the over all game play kinda of sucks. I hope the full game will be alot better the maps are too dark and the movement of the player is choppie.

As for the weapon i think when the full game comes out and you can set hardcore game type the weapons will be alot better see alot of the beta servers are running game type standard just like cod4. I do like the sending of dogs that is kinda of nice better then a chopper like NoCd said but we will have to see. Just like any other COD I will have to buy it so i can complete the collection I have.

actuallly this is not Cod 5, like i have said before, IW is the developer that is making the numbered tittles, check out this episode of Game Trailers Tv wich is based in Call Of Duty World At War and there is a segment that they talked about this in particular, is at the beginning of chapter 4 so u can skip to that if you dont want to watch the whole show

well Snake, Unfortunately the Call Of Duty franchise is property of Activition, so they get whoever they want to make it, and they have stated before that they plan to have a Cod game every year that&#39;s why they alternate the development between Tryarch and Infinity Ward.

Come on guys the game is not that bad, yeah it feels kinda weird and there r some elements in the gameplay that do not make sense just yet, but in overall the game is fun to play, if you get by that and keep playing you will find yourself adjusting to it, once u start unlocking stuff for your weapons it really starts to feels better.

usually 2 bites actually, and the choppers kill you b4 u can respond. choppers are also harder 2 kill, much harder.

Damage may be a lot but I think it is balanced out since they are very easy to kill. Unlike the chopper in CoD4 you can very easily kill the dogs with anything (including your knife).

This game is a disgrace to Call of Duty fans, Infinity Ward, and myself. The sound is so horrible, the graphics look washed, hell I can&#39;t even manage to get out 60fps on the singleplayer with NO AA, using the same settings Call of Duty 4 has, as I get 125fps from CoD4. Bolt-rifles take 2 shots to hit if you aim under the neck which basically ruins the point of a bolt-action rifle. Multiplayer is okay, single player was too short, and too much of those hostage scenes and shellshock. Overall I give it a 3/10

Forgot to add, I have to admit the music in the game sounds great. Still stays as a 3/10.

For example the map Castle, you hear that heavy bass part. That&#39;s <3

well i updated my sound drivers, even updated drivers from Windows update for the USB headphones.
I saw the game got a little smoother even at 200ms ping, but still getting the performance warning in console, even in singleplayer.
